Hi my name is Rachel, I live in Peebles with my husband, our beautiful eleven month old son, and two cute Lhasa Apso dogs.
I have been using British Sign Language for the last seven years at my full time job as a Cabin Crew Manager, with a large UK Airline. I found it very useful whilst having deaf passengers on board, and also knew they very much appreciated my communication. Once my son was born I started researching the new "American Meet the Parents" style baby sign language, and learnt it had now came to the UK! I then researched the pro's to introducing this to a childs life...............and couldn't find any cons!!! I then started training, through Love and Cuddles Ltd, who are the first and largest organisation offering Baby Signing with music in the UK.
Although after a long search I soon realised that there are no Baby Sign Classes anywhere in the Scottish Borders & Midlothian - and felt I needed to change that immediately!
So for all the mums who want to stop tantrums, and really connect with your baby on a new level - book this course!
A Bit about the Company and what they do?
Baby Signing Training are committed to promoting the benefits of baby signing in order to ensure that all children have the opportunity for development at this very important early age. They are particularly passionate about ensuring that Baby Signing is available to those babies and toddlers who may otherwise have been unable to access its benefits by bringing it to The Scottish Borders, Midlothian, Edinburgh & now South Lanarkshire.
Baby Signing Training is a dedicated training provider of courses for children’s centres, nurseries and others working with or wanting to work with those under five. We are passionate about enabling access to high quality baby and toddler sessions to all families. Our courses enable delegates to offer professional yet fun courses with no ongoing costs
The programme has been designed by a Cambridge University graduate in Education Studies, who has been signing for over 12 years and who herself currently runs baby signing sessions. Sessions have a strong focus on fun. All contain music, actions and signs. Although our courses contain around 150 of the most useful signs for babies, these are introduced gradually and alongside music and props.
All of the resources are produced using carefully selected British Sign Language Signs, as we are keen to ensure that our sessions are accessible to those with a hearing impairment. However, in reality because where there are a number of different BSL signs to choose from we have always chosen the simplest, there is very little variation between the signs used in our resources and those used in other sign systems such as Makaton. We hope you enjoy the website, and look forward to welcoming you throughout the Scottish Borders, Edinbugh & Midlothian, Biggar & South Lanarkshire from June 2011. |
